The Russian Kremlin announced Thursday that Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree on the decision to compulsory conscription of another 147,000 soldiers, amid the depletion of Russian soldiers by the Russian-Ukrainian war.

According to the decree issued in Russia, men between the ages of 18 and 27, who are not in the reserves of the Russian military forces, will be drafted to be subject to compulsory conscription between April 1 and July 15.

Putin also ordered the military to dismiss servicemen, while the head of Russia’s State Duma Defense Committee, Andrei Kartapolov, confirmed that new recruits would not be sent to Ukraine.

It is noteworthy that earlier this month, the Chairman of the Committee submitted a bill proposing to increase the age range for compulsory recruitment for men between the ages of 21 and 30, so that the minimum age for recruitment becomes 18 years, and if approved, the law will enter into force at the beginning of 2024.
